DTF Printing vs Sublimation Printing
sublimation transfer printing is a method of printing designs onto a special transfer paper using sublimation ink, which is then heat transferred onto the surface of a substrate, such as fabric or coated metal, using a heat press. While sublimation printing has its advantages for certain applications, DTF printing offers more versatility, better color options, and faster production times, making it a popular choice for custom apparel and promotional products.
1. Material compatibility:
DTF printing can be done on a wider range of materials, including cotton and synthetic fabrics, whereas sublimation printing requires a polyester or polymer-coated substrate. This makes DTF printing a more versatile option for printing on various types of fabrics and materials.
2. Color limitations:
Sublimation printing is best suited for light-colored or white substrates, as the sublimation ink is translucent and does not show up well on dark colors. DTF printing, on the other hand, can be used on both light and dark colored garments, providing more color options for designs on dark colour T shirt printing or garment and uniform printing.
3. Durability:
Both DTF printing and sublimation printing offer excellent durability, with the ink penetrating the fibers of the fabric for long-lasting results. However, sublimation printing may fade over time with exposure to UV light, whereas DTF printing is more resistant to fading.
4. Detail and resolution:
DTF printing can achieve higher resolution and sharper details compared to sublimation printing, which can sometimes result in a slightly blurred or fuzzy image.
